Good morning all,
Dateline Saturday, August 7 A.M. - The big week is here and with two days to go, I hope you all will invite family, friends and neighbors to worship at Evensong today 5 P.M. and on Sunday, 10 A.M. in what I know will be spirit and inspiration filled services with the RSCM choristers who have been learning about liturgy, rehearsing and singing all week. There is nothing specific for our Emmanuel choir to do this Sunday, except to come and receive the gifts these children will bear in God's church in His name, but I do ask that you just please be available to stand by in case of any last minute details running around to get things ready, ushering help, etc.
Ben and Curtis Kitchen received their RSCM Level 1 Light Blue ribbons last Sunday, which they will wear proudly with the other choristers, who have have earned their various ribbons. It has been a hectic, but joyful time for all our staff and choristers in this first-ever RSCM course held in Newport. The choristers are singing beautifully, learning a lot (me even more), and we could not be more delighted with the way everyone is working and playing together. I wish you all could be here to see it happening.
I'm embarrassed to say and should have mentioned, we've been singing Morning Prayer and Compline everyday at 8:30 AM & PM respectively, in Salve Regina's beautiful new chapel and all are welcome to attend to hear the choristers sing these services as well.

Blessings and peace in Christ,

Music Notes: This Sunday, Pentecost 11, we hear the fruits of 41 choristers from around New England, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and the D.C. area, who descended on Newport and Salve Regina University for the first ever, RSCM summer singing course held in Rhode Island and I and the committee were all ecstatically delighted to meet, host, work, play and sing with them all week long!
Thank you for worshipping with us in this beautiful space we call Emmanuel Church, (God with us), to hear the fruits of the week long singing course, under the direction of Ben Hutto of St. Alban’s School in Washington, DC and Director of Music at St. John’s Lafayette Square. We are indeed honored that God’s mission included hosting this festival service. ‘We are a dynamic faith community committed to sharing God's love. Our mission is to equip people to live as disciples of Jesus.’ And as music refreshes the soul and brings people to Emmanuel for delights to the ear and mind that cannot be found anywhere else, all who may long for a connection with God can receive a spiritual renewal here, where the ambience of sacred space is truly the inspiration of God. Join us for this musical offering and on Sundays, in all our ministries in Newport.
You are welcome to join us for Summer Choir during the summer months, Sundays at 8:45 to rehearse the music of the day from 8:45 to 9:45 A.M. before the 10 A.M. Eucharist. I invite anyone interested in doing a little singing to share your talents with us and all who worship at Emmanuel Church.
Peace and see you at worship – AJH
The Chorister Creed & Prayer
‘I will sing with the spirit and with understanding also’
The First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 14:15
Bless, O Lord, us your servants who minister in your temple;
Grant that what we sing with our lips we may believe in our hearts,
And what we believe in our hearts we may show forth in our lives;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
