Music Notes: [These Music Notes are now posted on our Emmanuel web site, http://www.emmanuelnewport.org/music.]  This week in the lessons, as one commentator describes, ‘Jesus is the local boy who returns to the temple and blows them away when he reads from Isaiah, ‘The spirit of the Lord is upon me.’  Jesus declares himself the Messiah…and the world will never be the same.  The hymns reflecting the ‘Word’ are: 362, 530, 616, 493 and 409.  The choir anthem is the familiar, ‘Teach me, O Lord,’ by Thomas Attwood (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Attwood_%28composer%29) and in our liturgy, we will use Rutter’s setting of Canticle 20, ‘Gloria in excelsis.’ We will speak the Lord’s Prayer this week and sing The Fraction Anthem, S-152, continuing also to use the ‘Grace Before Meals’ prior to our communing.  Although we sing some of these ‘a capella,’ all may join the choir to sing them as you feel comfortable.  Peace and looking forward to seeing you at worship – AJH
