Faculty - Cynthia DeDakis

Cynthia Brown DeDakis, FRSCM, is Minister of Music at St Thomas Church, Whitemarsh, PA.  She has had over 30 years experience teaching music to young people and adults.

Before her appointment at St. Thomas’, Mrs. DeDakis founded and directed the Chorister Academy at St John’s, Lafayette Square in Washington, DC. She has served at Lutheran and Episcopal parishes in Wisconsin, Virginia and Georgia, and was Associate Choirmaster at the Episcopal Cathedral of St Philip in Atlanta, GA.

She received a B. Mus. in Voice and Music Education from the State University of New York at Fredonia and a M. Mus. in Choral Conducting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She taught public school music in New York State and in Wisconsin, and taught conducting at the undergraduate and graduate levels at the University of Wisconsin and at Emory University.

Mrs. DeDakis has been a Training Course Manager and Music Director for RSCM America and has served for many years on the Board of Directors. In January she retired as President of the Board.  She is a member of the Association of Anglican Musicians.
